Indices of Deprivation 2025
The Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) is the official measure of relative deprivation in England, produced by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. It is based on 55 separate indicators, organised across seven distinct domains of deprivation which are combined and weighted to calculate the Index.
Oxfordshire has relatively low levels of deprivation: it is the 8th least deprived of 153 upper-tier local authorities in England (up from 10th in 2015). That puts the county well within the top 10% least deprived.
The English Indices of Deprivation 2025 were published on 30th October 2025. View our Oxfordshire Indices of Deprivation 2025 headlines.
We have aggregated the IMD to show it by MSOA for Oxfordshire. We have also aggregated the IMD to show it by Ward*. These have both been done following the methodology provided by the Research Report that was provided alongside the publication of the Indices of Deprivation 2025.
*Please note that the aggregation by Ward is based on the ONS Best Fit lookup of LSOA to Ward as LSOAs boundaries are not cohesive with Ward boundaries.
